It was a privilege to attend (by serendipity) a recent event scheduled as part of Reconciliation Week across the nation. Held at the Flame of Remembrance, Kings Park, Perth, WA on the 29th May 2013 the commemorative event was held in honour and recognition of the many indigenous veterans who served with Australia’s armed forces.

During his address the Governor of WA, His Excellency Malcolm McCusker AC CVO QC, mentioned that some 500 indigenous Australians had enlisted for service during WW1 and a further 5,000 during WW2.
After this very moving ceremony I visited sections of the May Drive Avenue of Honour within Kings Park.
